Ormilio vs EasyWorship
EasyWorship makes the big screen easy for volunteers at the computer. Ormilio puts the words on everyone's phone too, led from a phone.
EasyWorship and Ormilio both help a church sing together, but they start from different places. EasyWorship is made for the volunteers who run the screens from a computer. Ormilio is made so everyone in the room can read the words on their own phone.
Here is how they differ, and how to tell which one your group needs. Or whether you could use both.
What EasyWorship is
EasyWorship is church presentation software that has served churches for more than 25 years. It runs on Windows, and since version 8 it also runs on Mac. It is made so the volunteer in the booth, the worship leader and the pastor can all prepare and run the service.
It puts songs, Bible verses, videos and backgrounds on the screens. It has three outputs: the main screen, an alternative screen and a stage screen for the team. A remote app for iPhone and Android lets someone move the slides from a phone. CCLI SongSelect is built in, with a very large catalog of licensed worship songs. EasyWorship also offers media like worship backgrounds, sermon videos and countdown timers, including seasonal sets for Easter and Christmas, and it helps churches add lyrics to a live stream.
EasyWorship is paid software with a free trial. Training and phone support are included.
What Ormilio is
Ormilio is a simple web app for showing the words of songs and readings. The leader picks songs from the free library of public domain hymns and royalty-free songs, or pastes in their own words. Each verse becomes a slide. Then the leader puts today's songs in order and moves forward from a phone. They can tap Next line by line, or set the seconds per line and let the words move on their own.
Everyone else joins by scanning a QR code, tapping a WhatsApp link or typing a short join number. There is no app to install and no account to make. The words open on each phone, on the same line as the big screen. Each person can make the letters bigger, switch to dark mode, scroll back, and tap to catch up. The big screen shows the same words full screen, easy to read from the back.
Ormilio shows plain lyrics and readings only, in any language and alphabet. There are no chords, no audio, no video and no backgrounds. It is free forever for up to 10 songs and 20 people at once. Ormilio Plus costs $10 a month, paid in your own currency.
The main differences
Where people read the words. With EasyWorship, the room reads the big screen, and the phone app is for the person moving the slides. With Ormilio, everyone can read on their own phone as well as on the big screen. That helps people far from the screen, people who need bigger letters, and places with no projector.
What you need. EasyWorship runs on a computer, usually in the booth. Ormilio opens in the browser, and the leader can run everything from a phone. Nobody has to install anything.
How much it does. EasyWorship covers the whole service: songs, Bible verses, videos, backgrounds, several screens and licensed songs through SongSelect. Ormilio does only the words, so it is very quick to learn. EasyWorship is paid, while Ormilio is free for small groups and $10 a month when the group grows.
Can you use both?
Yes. You can keep EasyWorship on the big screen, with its videos and backgrounds, and add Ormilio so everyone can follow on their phone. This is useful for the back rows, an overflow room or anyone who reads better up close.
The two are separate. Today's songs go into Ormilio too, and someone moves the words forward in Ormilio while the volunteer in the booth runs EasyWorship. Ormilio also works well on its own for gatherings outside the main room, like prayer, youth nights and home groups.
Which one fits your group?
Choose EasyWorship if you want one program for the whole Sunday service, with Bible verses, videos, backgrounds, several screens and a big library of licensed songs, run by volunteers at a computer.
Choose Ormilio if you want everyone to read the same words on their own phone, if you have no computer or projector, or if you lead a choir, a prayer group, a youth group or a home group. Choose both if you like your big screen as it is and want the whole room on the same line.
